Biography
Julia got her B.S. in Physics with minors in Biology and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside in 2023. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Biological Systems Engineering at the University of California, Davis, and joined the Digital Ag. Lab in 2023.
Her background includes research in materials science and coauthored work in theoretical physics, which informs her current interdisciplinary approach. Her research focuses on hyperspectral sensing and hybrid radiative transfer–machine learning models to study within-canopy nutrient variability in almond orchards, with an emphasis on improving nutrient use efficiency and reducing environmental impacts.
She is interested in advancing sustainable agriculture through data-driven tools that support environmentally responsible farming practices.
